Like magic!

HP fic, anyone?

Pale green (47 K).
Summary: Snape doesn't give Harry a detention, which leaves Harry with a strange taste in his mouth.

I realized that I've never mentioned, when posting fiction announcements on lj, that I'm bad at ratings and not a great believer in warnings, and stuff. Mention, mention. If you go to my site, there's a warnings page and a pairings page and whatnot. This public service announcement appears in conjunction with this story by sheer coincidence.

That was really, really interesting writing about want. An ending completely without cliches. Stands out, in a good way.

And your summary was the best I've seen in a while. Yes.

Thank you! The summary is courtesy of [info]julad, though, so the creditfor that is all hers. I'm thinking about hiring her to write my summaries on a permanent basis.

Oh.. lovely!

A rather nice story all 'round. Goes on my personal very short list of approved slashy HP. I was especially fond of the characterizations...they remained beautifully true to canon, which I always appreciate.

Thanks for the story.

Re: Oh.. lovely!

Thanks, glad to hear that. I've been thinking about this pairing since it first turned up in fiction, wondering what I'd do with it, and I guess I've found out. *g*

Oooh... exquisite. Utterly them, right down to the minor minor characters and details like Neville being too tall for Harry's robes.

The only question is: was it absinthe, or green chartreuse? ;)

Very good question. I'm partial to green chartreuse, myself, but I have a suspicion Snape drinks weird home-brewed stuff that he never lets anyone else touch...

And thanks. :-)

OK, so I am a complete newbie in HP fandom and I've only seen the movie so I don't really know a lot about the characters either and the very few fics I have read have been Harry/Draco, BUT...I really liked this one. It was original and fun and so well written.

Thank you.

Read the books! Read the books! *g* Seriously, the books are a lot of fun. I'm fascinated by the way the fandom's taken off and grown into something ginormous, and how the Snape pairings took off after the movie (though maybe that shouldn't be a surprise. To quote Clarence at Red Rose, "We've got Alan Rickman!"). I'm not a big Harry/Draco fan, personally, so I'm not that familiar with the fiction, but shalott's stories (the first Harry/Draco ever, I rather think) are very cool.

And thank you. :-)

Oooh, excellent! I love it when fanfic writers thoughtfully explore the implications of what an encounter between Snape and Harry might really mean, instead of just taking the "they fall into each other's arms and Dumbledore happily gives them his blessing" route. I could really believe that all the characters would act this way. And all the peripheral stuff with Ron, Hermione, Justin, etc, was hilarious.

Thank you!

I've seen a lot of versions of how Snape and Harry get together, and some I've found quite plausible and some not, but when I thought of the pairing I kept considering the problems, and the various ways in which the dynamic could play out, and this is where I ended up.

It's fun to write in the potterverse because there are so many minor characters with amusing quirks, and so many opportunities to work in a little weirdness here and there. :-)

Fabulous and a letdown, in the very best way.
